On this day:

Capitalism and Toys for Everyone!

Ok so I'm a bit harsh, clearly a cynical bastard that doesn't trust anything til I read the fine print. But I did stumbled upon something interesting after watching another mind-numbing cartoon via yahoo; http://www.jibjab.com/xmas/. JibJabs mildy humorous, not incredibly cerebral, but a guilty pleasure.

So to the point: here's a charitable website that gives gifts to children in Iraq. JibJab is promoting it, and it's created by a Utah National Guard officer serving in Iraq. Being the questioning bastard I am, I dug a bit deeper into what the whole intiative was all about, having visions of a fat Sally Struthers eating peanut butter sandwiches in front of starving people.

What I know so far is that it does seem very legit. It's founder is Mormon perhaps? Not sure. No disrespect to Utah or Mormons, I just don't think we need any holy roller crusaders in a land of religous anarchy. Bottom line, I don't think OperationGive is evangelical in nature. The blogger community also seems to behind it.

So forget the humbug. Check out http://www.operationgive.org/...

Merry Christmas ;)
